‘Semitransparent, the plastic like marble cut to look like cloth, gathering detritus in dried out puddles, skeletons of plastic, a soft layer of dust, the remnants of a foundation, cut into clay, cracked porcelain and the clean blue of mouthwash, spat across paving stones, chewed by mosquitos, the blood dripping into the surf, mingling with the salt, drawn in lines, oozing from the remnants of an aubergine, as the bread dries out in the desert wind and a volcano looms in the background, iron red, not quite the colour of blood, but darker and dry, pebbles surround a boulder plunged between a gap, supporting two points, a plastic strip tied between two posts, something that stops you from going forward, into that pool, dark green from an algae bloom, something that denotes a period in time, something far older, outside of a human timeframe, the swamp, a stomach, a primordial medium use to coagulate bodies’
